Fabulous February at Tots Play
February has been jam packed with events and special sessions from Valentine’s Day to Shrove Tuesday. The first half term is over and we are beginning the second with spring (hopefully!) just around the corner. Does anyone else feel this year is flying by so fast already?
Valentine's Day
This month brought us Valentine's day, the day of love, and our tots enjoyed a range of special activities to celebrate including red themed sensory play, songs and rhymes about love and parachute play with heart shaped balloons.

Winter Olympics
Our Tots in Dartford got behind the Winter Olympics and tried their hand at curling. Great fun!
Baby Development Course
This month has seen many babies graduating from our Baby Development Courses across the country. Not sure what it's all about?
Our Baby Development course is especially designed for babies from birth to 6 months, and aims to support you both through this crucial time, providing simple ideas and techniques for loving play times that will help you connect, calm and have fun together while aiding your baby's development.
The classes are also a great way to get out and meet other parents in your area with babies of a similar age. Many of our previous course attendees have continued to meet up long after their course ended.
Running over six weeks the course introduces a range of activities, suitable for even very young babies, including:
Baby Massage
Baby Yoga
Calming Techniques
Baby Sign Language
Tummy Time Play
Sensory Play
Songs and rhymes
Cuddles, smiles, bubbles and lots of fun
If you, or someone you know, has a new baby you can find out more about the course HERE, and find the next course starting near you HERE. We can't wait to welcome you.
This Month our Tots are loving ……….. Food Play
Food items can provide lots of different sensory stimulation for your little one. Certain foods can provide a similar play experience to things like sand (oats, rice) and paint (yoghurt, jelly), but with the reassurance for you that it will not be harmful if they go in the mouth during play – which they are bound to do at this stage. Letting your baby explore different food items in this way can also be helpful when introducing new food during weaning as it takes the pressure off the process.
Things like different fruits and vegetables, cereal and other foodstuffs provides lots of exploration of texture, shape, size, colour etc.
Food play can be lots of fun, but do always make sure to carefully supervise your little one during the process.
